Piano Hi-Lite | Commercial
Today I was proud to add an entirely new section to my resume: "Commercial." That's right. Last week I was cast in my first commercial! It was for ONE Piano and produced by Red Cube Production, Inc.
I was nervous for this commercial because of my inability to prep. For films I memorize a script, build a character...but for this commercial, all I was told ahead of time was I would be playing the piano. Without more to prep, I felt unprepared as I arrived on set. I needn't have worried though. The crew and other talent were nice, and despite being behind schedule for nearly the entire day, I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
It was rather nice to just sit down and do what I was told. 'Walk in and sit down.' 'Play this song.' 'Open the app.' There was no dialogue, so I got to relax and lose myself in the moment. No worrying about lines or hitting my mark. This is one thing I will strive for more of in film. To let go of the lines and to allow myself to exist on camera.
No prep and wrapped in one day? Yeah, filming this was rather nice :)
