A top-secret mission that saved Britain from collapsing to Hitler’s armies.
Sherwood Forest is the true story of how in 1943, Britain was running out of oil to fuel their fuel their war efforts. If they had run out, it would have been the end of WWII.
To help its ally, the United States sent Oklahoma roughnecks on a top-secret mission to England to help drill for oil. With their cutting edge knowledge and equipment, these Oklahoma oil drillers pulled Britain back from the brink of destruction.
Produced by the late Academy Award-winning producer Gray Frederickson, this project was made possible by the Oklahoma History Center and Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, OERB, James Day, and more. Sherwood Forest premiered on OETA December 2022, and is currently being submitted for festivals.
