Escape from Chemistry Tower

Once upon a time, a princess was locked in the top of Chemistry Tower by her evil father. Her father had dreams of bragging to all his friends about his child who had become a doctor. Desolate and alone, the princess prayed for a miracle.

Low and behold, a kind wizard appeared! The wizard, named Dr. Lamar, instructed the princess to create a triphenylmethanol potion. Only with this magical brew, he cackled, can you ever hope to be free! So the princess mixed magnesium metal and bromobeneze together. A kind, red-headed fairy added some initiator to help the potion. The princess stared at her concoction for a very, very long time, but nothing happened. She began to fear that she would never escape her fate, but the wizard told her to have patience.

Years later, the mixture began to bubble. Then, behold! The clear liquid began to turn a cloudy gray. It was finally happening! The princess rejoiced and added more bromobenzene. The cloudy gray mixture began to reflux, and then a yellowish tinge appeared. The yellow grew stronger, and stronger. The princess slowly added bromobenze so the potion would not reflux too high and drown the tiny kingdom of Calcium Chloride Drying Tube. It was an odd kingdom, but the princess wished its inhabitants no harm. So she was careful.

After all the bromobenzene was added, the princess kept the potion stirring with a magical stirring rod. The potion darkened from a happy yellow to an ominous orange. It was complete! Now that the princess had created a powerful grignard she could escape the tower and go enjoy the rest of her Wednesday.

Or so she thought...
